BM as we will refer to her throughout the rest of this post is, well...big! She is now at day 302, is shedding like mad and her udder is filling up right on schedule. She is a bit depressed as her herd buddies are outside and she is left inside with an obnoxious 2yo stud colt who thinks the world revolves around him (which in essence it does)! She is cumbersome when moving as she is closing in on the finish line and her ligaments are starting to loosen to help prepare for foaling.
I felt bad for her yesterday as she looked so sad and wasn't devouring her hay like she usually does so I figured I would turn her out in the sun with her buddies...well...once inside the paddock her tail went upside down over her back and she proceeded to leap and bound like a grand prix jumper. Oh my lord, I was expecting that baby to shoot out the other end of her as she performed calisthenics like I only dream of being able to do! Thank goodness the foal stayed intact and hopefully no worse for the wear!
She is now in the window to receive her pre-foaling vaccines and will get them forthwith. All the growing, nutrition, vetting and care has gotten us to this point, now hopefully all will go well and a happy healthy foal will be with us in about a month.
